On Friday, March 5th, 2026, Happy Field Montessori School came alive with colour, rhythm, and culture as students and teachers gathered to celebrate our annual Heritage Day.
This year's theme centred on the rich and vibrant Ga culture, one of Ghana's most celebrated indigenous traditions. The event kicked off on a uniquely powerful note when the national anthem was sung in three different languages, setting the tone for a celebration that honoured both unity and diversity from the very first moment.
Although the spotlight was on Ga heritage, the celebration beautifully reflected the diversity of our school community. Students from various ethnic backgrounds took to the stage, delivering cultural performances, traditional dances, and confident speeches that showcased both their cultural pride and the depth of their learning. It was a joy to watch our young ones embrace not only their own heritage but also that of their peers.
A highlight of the day was the display and tasting of authentic Ga cuisine. Children were treated to traditional delicacies including "Komi k3 Kenan", "Oblayoo", and "Ekuagbemi" dishes that carry generations of history in every bite. Watching the children savour these meals was both heartwarming and meaningful.
The entire event was a powerful reminder of why celebrating culture matters. It nurtures identity, builds confidence, and fosters unity among our learners from a very young age.
At Happy Field Montessori School, we firmly believe our diversity is our strength.
